Custom Pool Design & Construction
Pools designed around the architecture of your home, not a template.
Introduction
Custom pool design begins with the property — orientation, sightlines, and architecture. Since 2005, Sonoran Waters has built pools tailored to each Scottsdale and Paradise Valley home, not pulled from a template catalog.
What This Solves
Most builders sell a pool. We design one. Standard layouts often clash with the home, miss the best sightlines, or leave usable space wasted. A custom pool starts with the property and works backward to the design.
Our Approach
- Site walk with the homeowner to study sightlines, sun path, drainage, and access.
- Concept design with elevations, material specs, and a built model of how the pool reads from the home.
- Engineered drawings stamped for Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, or Phoenix permitting.
- Construction managed in-house from excavation to plaster — one team, one schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to build a custom pool?
Most projects run 10 to 16 weeks after permits clear. Excavation through gunite is usually three to four weeks; tile, coping, deck, and plaster fill the rest.
What kinds of pool designs do you build?
Modern geometric, negative-edge, freeform organic, and resort-style. Each design is drawn for the specific property — we do not reuse plans.
Do you handle permits and city approvals?
Yes. We pull permits in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Phoenix, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Fountain Hills, Cave Creek, and Buckeye.
Can you integrate the pool with landscape and hardscape?
Yes — landscape, hardscape, ramadas, and outdoor kitchens are coordinated in-house so the build sequence stays clean.
Do you build pools with fire and water features?
Yes. Fire bowls, sheer descents, scuppers, raised spas, and Baja shelves are common across our recent builds.
